Short and intensive courses covering Water-reed and Long Straw Thatching 
The courses will be run on Mock and real roofs in County Wexford, depending on the chosen method.
They will cover eves, gables, hips, windows, chimneys, valleys, dormers, velux, flashings and ridging. 
Also we will look at straw growing, reed harvesting, hazel coppicing and spar making.
Featured below are proposed roofs for training, of straw and of water-reed. Also the ground level roof for shorter courses.
On these roofs students will get the opportunity to work on mud walled structures and timber framed structures.
Learning how to prepare and thatch old base coats which date back hundreds of years, learning how to fit 
water-reed to existing timber roof, Ridging, both block patterned and flush. 
We will also explore different designs in Thatch from around the world, we will see that thatch can be 
applied to new build design as featured below.
